Quaystone is a local, family contractor based in Southampton, run by founder, Daniel James with a select team of senior managers, skilled supervisors and direct tradesmen.

Daniel started work in the construction industry in 1997.  He began his career as a general builder for his father’s company before joining a main contractor and progressing into site management and quantity surveying.  He has worked as a special works manager delivering projects between £50k and £1.5m, a quantity surveyor and a senior QS on capital projects up to £10m in value; all for regional main contractors.

Having worked for major contractors for over 16 years, Daniel started Quaystone early in 2016, bringing a main contractor level of professionalism, safety and quality with the personal service of a smaller organisation. During this time the company has carried out over £4m of new build, refurbishment and fit-out works and continues to grow.

In April 2018, Greg joined Quaystone to support its continued growth through managing projects and improving capabilities.

Greg comes from a trade background followed by over 25 years of extensive management experience with major contractors both in the UK and Australia and has worked with the team in recent years.

As well as helping the business to develop and grow, Greg brings the following skills through the preconstruction, construction and completion stages of a project:-

  • Project planning
  • Procurement
  • Quality systems
  • HS&E management
  • Design coordination
  • Client reports

All projects are delivered by a select core of regular tradsmen, supplemented by a wider pool of specialists as projects and work levels require. All supervisors, tradesmen and operatives have a proven track record of working with the Quaystone team over the years and are trusted to carry out complex projects, often in occupied premises; providing the highest levels of consideration to customers and end users.
